2021-2022 PCS Bursary Award
The Trustees are thrilled to announce that we have a successful student, Sophie Jones, whose dissertation topic promises to add depth to the research of Penguin history. Sophie's dissertation title is “Scissors only, no paste required”: A Study of Puffin Cut-out Books.
My name is Sophie Jones and I grew up and currently live in London. I studied History at undergraduate level at the University of Edinburgh. I am currently studying for an MA in the History of the Book at the Institute of English Studies. My dissertation is on the Puffin Cut-out books which celebrate their 75th anniversary this year. In June I will be undertaking an internship at the antiquarian and rare book dealer Bernard Quaritch with the view to working in the rare book trade after I complete my studies.
