Alan Glover was largely responsible for the non-fiction side of Penguin’s output, in particular the Pelican list, between 1944 and his retirement in 1960.

Tim Graham has drawn on archival records in various university Special Collections and in many other libraries and institutions. He has also made use of extensive correspondence undertaken by the late Steve Hare on this 'quite brilliant editor'. The result is a detailed biography of an extraordinary man that will make a welcome addition to the Society's publications.
