The Miscellany series was an attempt to make some of the more important material from the Newsletters available again but in a revised and consolidated form where appropriate.
Although not on a single subject, these disparate categories fit together well as discussion of the topics covered is to be found in many newsletters and at most meetings. The instances of imitation and adaptation of Penguin design and branding; the wealth of missing numbers – from the Christie reprintings onwards there have been ‘titles not published, numbers not used and misprints likely to deceive’; and finally, those titles that Penguin found hard to categorize that were lumped into a Miscellaneous series denoted Q.
- ‘Mock Penguins: a symposium’ 16 articles on this theme from a number of different authors including Noel Carrington.
- ‘The Mysterious Affair at Harmondsworth: Missing Titles and Numbers’ 18 articles each covering a different series including some helpful explanatory lists.
- ‘Q: A Checklist’ an original checklist by Chris Comber PCS Newsletter 12, 1979 with additional material by Russell Edwards.
- ‘Society Penguin’ This final article details the announcement of the PCS official emblem which was designed by typographer Berthold Wolpe, together with his biography.
