The Miscellany series was an attempt to make some of the more important material from the Newsletters available again but in a revised and consolidated form where appropriate.
Miscellany 4 covers two series on which collectors found it difficult to source information and which are outside the main stream output of Penguin Books. The first is the entry to the American market and the second the volumes that were printed by the Lane family, in limited numbers, as Christmas gifts.

- ‘Now Read This’ two reviews of ‘The Book of Paperbacks: A Visual History of the Paperback’ by Piet Schreuders (which had appeared in PCS Newsletters 16 and 17, 1981). Further review of ‘Undercover: An Illustrated History of American Mass Market Paperbacks’ by Thomas L Bonn (from PCS Newsletter 19, 1982). Reviews written by Andrew Dalby and David Hall.
- ‘Christmas Books’ by David J Hall an illustrated article on the history of these titles reprinted from PCS Newsletter 24, 1985.
- ‘The Allen Lane Christmas Books and Cards’ an extensive illustrated list by Hans Schmoller and David Teale which first appeared in PCS Newsletter 12, 1979, extra material from David Teale and Tanya Schmoller.
