PCS AGM and annual get together 2020

The organisation for the 2020 AGM has been moving on apace and there are some exciting events planned that will appeal to even the most winter-weary souls. Whether you are able to come for the whole weekend or just for the Saturday, there is plenty to attract.

The AGM weekend will be from Friday 4 September to Sunday 6 September and will follow our tried and tested routine but with extra muscle!

For those arriving on Friday there is, at 6pm, a reception at the Lettering Arts Centre, Snape Maltings to see their latest exhibition followed by supper in Aldeburgh overlooking the sea.

On the Saturday there will be the usual book sale, AGM and buffet lunch plus a display or three to encourage discussion! The daytime activities will take place in the Aldeburgh Community Centre where there is plenty of space to chat and mingle.

In the afternoon Members can watch Yellow Box, the 1997 documentary about Germano Facetti, which I have featured in Latest News previously. We are extremely fortunate that Tony West, the Director/Producer, has agreed to bring his master copy and give a brief introduction. If you have not yet had the opportunity to watch this moving piece, I thoroughly recommend you catch it - and if you have already seen it I suspect you will want to watch it again.

The AGM dinner will be in the centre of Aldeburgh and to round off the weekend, there is an exciting visit planned for those wishing to linger a little on the Sunday morning. The Red House Archive will open for PCS members only and there will be a special exhibition featuring the Britten and Pears Penguin collection plus a visit to the Red House.

Fuller details of the activities, plus timings and costs will be included in the next Penguin Collector but in the meantime, Enid Stephenson would welcome any questions about the weekend.

You can contact Enid on [email protected] for accommodation lists and a fuller plan of the weekend or if you refer to your December 2019 Collector you will find her postal address and telephone number at the end of her Annual Meeting article on pages 91 and 92.
