Bursary Update

The 2017-18 Post Graduate Bursary closed on 31 March this year and the award has gone to Sally Addison, an MA student at the Oxford International Centre for Publishing (OICP) at Oxford Brookes University. The title of her study is ‘The influences and impacts of the marketing behind Penguin Books from 1935 to the present day’.

This year’s award will be named 'The Steve Hare Bursary' in memory of his life and work. Steve was a doctoral student at the OICP at the time of his death and it is serendipitous that the award is going to a student at this same institution.

Sally has sent us a little bit of information about herself

“Originally I am from Cumbria, and have grown up on a farm, surrounded by a lot of family. I went to the University of Leeds for my undergrad and studied History and Sociology Joint Honours. My dream job would definitely be Penguin Random House working as a Publicity and Marketing Assistant, specifically in their children's department, however before that, I am incredibly keen to go to New Zealand and work there for a year!”

Sally has already discovered the delights of the wonderful Penguin Archive at the University of Bristol Special Collections and we wish her all the best for her studies.
